Message Breaking in is common sense. It is to get the surface right and when the surfaces are fresh (uneven) getting hard on the clutch may be counterproductive. Could clutch manufacturers be wrong? If you get on it immediately you can glaze the surface, I would not want that to happen with my clutch.
